I’m no curtain expert by any means, but one of my biggest pet peeves is when I find homeowners who have curtains that are too short for their space. It drives me nuts!

I think window dressing is an afterthought for so many homeowners because actually finding the perfect can be not only difficult, but expensive. (I’m still trying to figure out what type of window dressing I want in my bedroom, so I know the feeling.)

During a vacant home staging one of the only things the sellers were keeping in the space was these dirty, old, white curtains in the bedroom and wouldn’t you know it, they didn’t fit the window. Not to mention each window only had one curtain.

One of the easiest ways to spruce up store bought curtains is adding something to them. In this case, we needed to add length and make the window treatments look dramatic. I decided to use the accent color red in this bedroom, so I bought red panels to attach to the bottom of the existing curtains. I don’t really know how to sew, (although I did get a sewing machine for Christmas to learn) so I attached it with some hemming tape and a hot iron. I also bought side hooks to swag the curtain.

Here is what the master bedroom looks like now once staged.
